About Us
Phi Beta Psi is a national organization which was founded in Columbus, OH in 1904 as a civic organization to raise funds for polio. In 1948, cancer research became our focus and has been ever since. We are a small organization, 75 chapters across the country with over 1100 active members. Small, but mighty, over the years Phi Beta Psi has donated more than $11,000,000 to research!
As the first chapter in Virginia, we are looking to spread the word about our mission and welcome more members and more chapters across the region! Cancer research will lead to a possible cure or less difficult treatment for future generations.
Let’s keep up the good fight, one step, one dollar, one year at a time!
A Note From Our Previous Chapter President
In 2013, just after my 39th birthday, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The next two years were a blur for me as I continued to work full-time, raise kids, manage 9 surgeries, an additional diagnosis, and 12 months of grueling chemotherapy that brought a loss of hair, peeling black nails, and joint pain that was nearly unbearable some days. During that time, I participated in research programs to pay it forward as many before me have. Now I'm cancer free and committed to raising money for valuable programs.

“If you have a friend or family member with breast cancer, try not to look at her with ‘sad eyes.’ Treat her like you always did; just show a little extra love.”
– Hoda Kotb, Journalist
